Biathlon: already a medal for France at the European junior championships in Altenberg
On Wednesday morning, the European Junior Biathlon Championships kicked off in Altenberg (Germany) at the SPARKASSEN-Arena. In Saxony, an individual men’s race was on the programme for this fourth stage of the Junior Cup.

The race was a success for France, as Antonin Delsol from Savoie, with a score of 18/20, won a fine silver medal… for the first international bib of his career. The Féclazien missed twice on his first shot, then shot 15/15 to climb the rankings and finish second. Only Poland’s Grzegorz Galica (18/20), who was faster both on the shooting range and on the cross-country, did better, winning the European junior title in the speciality.

The battle for bronze was intense between Slovakia’s Artut Iskhakov (19/20) and Dauphiné Camille Grataloup-Manissolle (18/210). The current leader of the French U19 Cup, Iskhakov came out of the final shot 15 sec 1 behind his opponent… and failed to catch him by 1 tenth of a second. He therefore finished fourth, ahead of Croatia’s Matija Legovic (17/20) and Poland’s Jakub Potoniec (18/20), the final member of the top 6.

Among the other French competitors, Martin Botet (17/20) was fifteenth, Axel Garnier (16/20) eighteenth, Guillaume Poirot (16/20) nineteenth, Léo Carlier (16/20) twenty-second and Judicaël Perrillat-Bottonet (14/20) forty-fifth.
