Biathlon: in the polar cold of Khanty-Mansiysk, the mass-starts delivered their verdict
After the sprints, the mass-starts were contested on Friday in Khanty-Mansiysk (Russia) as part of the second leg of the 2025/2026 Commonwealth Cup biathlon competition.
With polar temperatures reigning over Western Siberia – down to over -20°C! Viktoriia Metelia dominated the women’s race at the start of the day. With 18/20, the Russian beat her compatriots Anastasiia Grishina (18/20) and Kristina Reztsova (18/20). Belarusian Dzinara Smolskaya (18/20), winner the day before, is sixth.
Next, in the men’s competition, victory went to Belarusian Dzmitry Lazouski. Again with 18/20 against the targets, he beat Aleksandr Kornev (18/20) and Alexander Povarnitsyn (19/20) by just a few seconds.
