Biathlon: a newcomer to the World Cup for Austria
This Thursday morning, theAustrian Ski Association announced the selection that will be sent to Kontiolahti (Finland) next week for the opening of the Biathlon World Cup. After a long summer of preparation and the selection races in Obertilliach (Austria), Anna Gandler, Lisa Theresa Hauser, Kristina Oberthaler, Lea Rothschopf and Dunja Zdouc have been selected on the women’s side.
The men’s squad will comprise Simon Eder, Patrick Jakob, David Komatz, Felix Leitner and Fabian Muellauer. Muellauer, 21, will be making his World Cup debut in Finland.
“He already distinguished himself last year with good performances and absolutely deserved his place. Nevertheless, he’s still a very young athlete, and the first thing he needs to do now is to gain some important experience with the best,” explained Vegard Bitnes, the Norwegian head coach of the Austrians, in the federal communication.
