Biathlon: Maëlle Achoui wins the U19 pursuit ahead of Rosalie Odile
On Saturday, Montblanc’s Maëlle Achoui won the women’s U19 sprint at the Summer Tour biathlon in La Féclaz (Savoie). Starting the pursuit on Sunday lunchtime with a narrow lead over her Savoie rivals Bambou Pallud and Rosalie Odile, she could not rest on her laurels.
Yet she managed to hold her nerve. With an 8/10 on the prone shots, she was even alone in the lead… until she shot a very poor 1/5 on her first standing shot. At that point, she was more than a minute off the lead, but recovered on the last pass behind the rifle with an excellent 5/5.

Taking advantage of Rosalie Odile ‘s 2/5 (14/20), Maëlle Achoui (14/20) regained first place and managed to break away in the final kilometres to claim a fabulous double. Second-placed Rosalie Odile was crowned French U19 summer biathlon champion , while Adèle Ouvrier-Buffet (16/20) rounded off the podium at 19.6 seconds.

Juliette Oliva (15/20) climbed no fewer than eleven places to take fourth place at the finish, while Matilda Dodos (17/20), Romane Ouvrier-Buffet (12/20), Rose Marguet (14/20), Fiona Laurent (13/20), Bambou Pallud (11/20) and Marie Hericher (14/20) made it into the top 10.
