On Saturday afternoon, Germany’s Vanessa Voigt shone in the pursuit event at the Biathlon World Cup in Le Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie). In third place, she even finished on the podium behind Franziska Preuss and Julia Simon.
However, she is feeling tired and the decision has been taken, along with the medical staff, not to let her race in Sunday’s mass-start. “The focus is already on the races in the New Year,” says Katharina Blume, the national team doctor, in a press release.

Julia Tannheimer, who is still ill, won’t be taking part in the Bornand mass-start either. “The aim now is to get back to full health and with all the energy she needs for the new year and the next three months”, explains the doctor.
