Biathlon : twelve Germans to defend their chances in Grand-Bornand
Germany is not changing anything for the Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie) stage. Led by Franziska Preuss, leader of the overall biathlon world cup ranking, the nation from across the Rhine will be making the trip to the Aravis mountains with a team of twelve athletes.

In the women’s race, the world number one will be joined by the young Selina Grotian, Julia Kink and Julia Tannheimer, as well as the more experienced Vanessa Voigt and Anna Weidel. On the French stage, the wearer of the yellow bib will have her work cut out if she is to hold on to her jersey before the Christmas break.
“I’m particularly looking forward to seeing the atmosphere in France. The fans there are simply fantastic and know biathlon very well,” Franziska Preuss enthused in a press release from her federation. It’s very special to be cheered on, but after the races, I’m also looking forward to Christmas, with a few days to relax.

In the men’s team, Philipp Horn, Simon Kaiser, Johannes Kuehn, Philipp Nawrath, Danilo Riethmueller and Justus Strelow will be looking to establish themselves among the best biathletes of the moment at a start to the season where the French and Norwegians are sharing the podiums.
