Biathlon: Johannes Thingnes Boe becomes the greatest biathlete at the World Championships
Three days after missing out on his first chance to become the most successful biathlete in the history of the World Championships in the mixed relay in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), Norway’s Johannes Thingnes Boe succeeded in setting a new record on Saturday.
Crowned in the sprint for the fourth and final time in his career after 2015, 2019 and 2023, the boy from Stryn (Norway) wins his twenty-first world gold medal, one more than his illustrious compatriot Ole Einar Bjoerndalen (20) and eight more than Martin Fourcade (13).
In the hierarchy of individual titles, on the other hand, this title “only” enables him to catch up with Ole Einar Bjoerndalen and Martin Fourcade with eleven titles. In the pursuit on Sunday, Johannes Thingnes Boe will have the opportunity to overtake them.
