Biathlon: the gold bib on Justine Braisaz-Bouchet’s shoulders
During the first weekend of the World Biathlon Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), Julia Simon wore the gold bib of the reigning world champion in the sprint and pursuit. While this tunic – the wearing of which is governed by point 12.8 of the IBU’s competition and event regulations – is prestigious, it wasn’t the first time that the Beaufortaine had worn it.
Last year, in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic), she even won the gold medal in the pursuit wearing this jersey. Early this Sunday afternoon, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet will don this gold-coloured bib for the very first time in her career.
Having won the mass-start a year ago in the Czech Republic, the Savoyard rider will now attempt to make it two with this distinctive jersey on her back. Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, the reigning Olympic and world champion in the speciality, has not lost on the format since 2021 in a major championship.
