On Saturday in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), Lou Jeanmonnot, Océane Michelon, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet and Julia Simon asserted their status as the big favourites in the women’s relay at the biathlon world championships. The French never wavered in their victories on the Helvetian slopes, and retained the title they had already won in style last year in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic).

Impeccable in front of the targets, the Tricolores even crossed the line with a margin of 1 min and 4 sec over their first Norwegian pursuers. The gap had even grown to almost 1 minute 30 seconds during the event. A colossal difference that hadn’t been seen in this format since 2009 at the World Championships.
On 21 February 2009, in Pyeongchang (South Korea), Russia’s Svetlana Sleptsova, Anna Boulygina, Olga Medvedtseva and Olga Zaitseva won ahead of Germany’s Martina Beck, Magdalena Neuner, Andrea Henkel and Kati Wilhelm with a bonus of 1 minute 13 seconds. That season, France’s Marie-Laure Brunet, Sylvie Becaert, Marie Dorin-Habert and Sandrine Bailly won bronze in Asia.
