Biathlon: best career result for Michela Carrera
She said she wanted to do well in the sprint at the biathlon world championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland). Well, Michela Carrara has done just that. On Friday, the Italian took a superb fifth place, synonymous with her best career result.

Interviewed by Fondo Italia on the eve of the race, the Italian said she was “very excited and determined to get a good result in a prestigious race”. Tonight, she can logically take the pressure off and celebrate after a performance on a par with the very best.
In dantesque shooting conditions, the 27-year-old biathlete scored a solid 9/10 on the shooting range. But that wasn’t all. The young woman also set a fantastic skiing time. On this Helvetian course, the 2018 world junior sprint champion quickly found her bearings: ” I was confident. The track suits me very well”, she said.

At the finish, Michela Carrara finished just over 24 seconds behind Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, the new world champion: “I was hoping to have a great race. In the end, it was one of the best races of my career,” she confided with a smile to our colleagues in the mixed zone.
A ceremony of flowers that delights and reassures the native of La Salle (Italy), who can now dream of a world medal. She will have the opportunity to do so on Sunday, in the pursuit, where she will start from a strong position and with the ambition of playing the spoilsport.
