Biathlon: in Lenzerheide, Johannes Thingnes Boe could become the most successful biathlete in the history of the World Championships
This Wednesday afternoon, at the stroke of 3.45pm, Johannes Thingnes Boe may yet go down in biathlon history. As he prepares to begin his ninth and final World Championships, the Norwegian has the opportunity to become the most successful biathlete in the history of the competition.
He currently shares the top spot with his illustrious compatriot Ole Einar Bjoerndalen. Both have twenty titles to their name, while Martin Fourcade, the third man in line, has thirteen world gold medals lined up in his trophy cabinet.
Johannes Thingnes Boe needs to win at least one title during the fortnight in Lenzerheide (Switzerland) if he is to take sole possession of first place in the hierarchy. If he does, he will be writing his legend just a few weeks before he puts away his rifle and cross-country skis.
