Biathlon: another gold medal for Les Bleus in Lenzerheide
The harvest of gold medals continues for the French team in Lenzerheide (Switzerland). Since the start of the 2025 World Biathlon Championships, the French have systematically returned to their hotels with an overload of metal in their luggage. On Thursday afternoon, however, during the highly electric mixed singles relay, there was a great risk that Julia Simon and Quentin Fillon-Maillet would return to their quarters without reaching the podium.

But this year, the French are untouchable in the canton of Grisons. In this unpredictable format, the French got their race off to a good start with an incisive Julia Simon. Although Quentin Fillon-Maillet, after three picks, gave the lead back to his team-mate in fourth place, 10 seconds off the lead, the Beaufortaine quickly regained the lead.
A title won on the last shot
Finally, in the last relay, Quentin Fillon-Maillet found himself in a battle with Germany’s Justus Strelow for the world title. At the end of an unbreathable standing shot, and despite a pick, the Jurassien managed to get out a few seconds ahead of his rival. Faster on cross-country skis, he took advantage of the last 1,500 metres to extend his lead and give France another world crown.

It was Norway’s Ragnhild Femsteinevik and Johannes Thingnes Boe, after a tremendous last lap by the man with 22 world titles, who took silver ahead of a tanned Germany.

After eight races out of twelve, Les Bleus have now won ten medals (5 gold, 5 bronze). In cross-country skiing, we tend to say that Davos (Switzerland) is a French landmark, so it‘ s only a short step to say that Lenzerheide is now the favourite venue for the French biathlon.
