Biathlon: no official training this Thursday for Julia Simon
On Wednesday, in the first round of the mixed relay at the Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), Julia Simon from Beaufort crashed. Falling heavily on the Swiss snow, she admitted to having a major headache after winning the world title.
In fact, at the very end of the afternoon, the winner of the 2023 Crystal Globe skipped the official IBU press conference. From 2.30pm on Thursday, the day after her stunt, Julia Simon was not present at the official women’s sprint watch training session.

Our colleagues at L’Equipe broke the news. However, the Tricolor staff are not worried. “It‘s voluntary, out of concern for her, explained Cyril Burdet. Julia [Simon] had a restful night, she had some after-effects and aches and pains in her back. We did some light training, no new symptoms, and she will be examined again this [Thursday] evening by the medical team. But don’t worry, she should be at the start of the sprint.”
She still skied in the morning
At the end of the morning, outside the official training period, Julia Simon went skiing with her coach. According to information from France’s leading sports daily, “the Frenchwoman was far from feeling 100%, even though she reportedly responded favourably to the concussion protocol questions on Wednesday evening”. “Her sensations were not optimal during this short hour on the slopes, with slight concentration problems and slight dizziness”, it also states.

When the sprint start list comes out this afternoon, the name of Julia Simon, the reigning world champion in this exercise, should be on it.
