Biathlon: who will dominate the medal rankings?
The World Biathlon Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland) kick off this Wednesday with the mixed relay. Ahead of the races, Nordic Magazine asked five artificial intelligences – ChatGpt, MistralAI, Gemini, Deepseek and Grok – to give their predictions. When it comes to the medal rankings, the AIs are virtually all in agreement on the outcome, with four of the five AIs questioned putting Norway at the top of the table.
For ChatGpt, Norway will indeed win fourteen medals, ahead of France (eleven medals) and Sweden (nine medals). In MistralAI, Norway was also in the lead with eleven medals, just ahead of France, also with eleven medals, but fewer titles. Sweden once again rounded off the podium with six medals. Deepseek continues this trend with the same top three: Norway with ten medals, France with nine and Sweden with eight.

Grok also announced a slight change, with Norway in first place with thirteen medals, followed by France with more podium finishes (fifteen) but fewer titles (six for Norway compared with five for France). Germany would complete the podium with seven medals.
For Gemini, however, it was France that topped the medals table with thirteen medals, ahead of Norway (nine medals) and Sweden (five medals).
Who will be the stars of these World Championships?
Last season in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic), Julia Simon and Johannes Thingnes Boe were the two great athletes of the competition, with five and seven medals each respectively. Who will be the two stars of this year’s World Championships in Switzerland? Answer from the AIs.
For Deepseek and Grok, Julia Simon and Johannes Thingnes Boe will once again be the two dominant athletes at these World Championships. For AI Gemini, Julia Simon will also be the grande dame of these World Championships with five medals. But in the men’s event, it expects Quentin Fillon-Maillet to be the dominant athlete with four medals.

MistralAI also expects Julia Simon to be the biathlete of the competition with four medals, but this time it’s Sturla Holm Lægreid who looks set to be the strong man of the Worlds with four medals.

As for ChatGpt, Johannes Thingnes Boe is back in the number 1 spot with five medals expected, but in the women’s event this time it’s Lou Jeanmonnot who is expected to win four medals.
The races kick off this Wednesday afternoon with the mixed relay, an opportunity to see if the predictions of the artificial intelligences are borne out.
