Biathlon : Lou Jeanmonnot, the best of 2024
As the year 2025 kicked off a few hours ago, Nordic Magazine takes one last look ahead to 2024. For the occasion, the editors have decided to draw up a ranking for the biathlete of the year 2024, taking into account only the individual World Cup races (and therefore putting the World Championships to one side).
The method adopted was simple: add together all the World Cup points won by the athletes during the 2024 calendar year, i.e. the points from the stages inOberhof (Germany), Ruhpolding (Germany), Antholz (Italy), Oslo-Holmenkollen (Norway), Soldier Hollow (USA) and Canmore (Canada) in the 2023/2024 season and the races in Kontiolahti (Finland), Hochfilzen (Austria) and Annecy – Le Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie) in the 2024/2025 season.

On the women’s side, the rankings give pride of place to the French, with Lou Jeanmonnot from the Doubs taking the honorary title of Biathlete of the Year 2024. With 1,142 points, she is well ahead of Julia Simon (992) and Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (886).

Elvira Oeberg (807) finished just off the podium, while Franziska Preuss (782), current holder of the yellow bib, completed the top 5 ahead of Lena Haecki-Gross (715). Next up are Lisa Vittozzi (705), holder of the crystal globe but absent from the start of the 2024/2025 winter season, and Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold (660), who has been suffering from heart problems for several weeks.

The top 10 is completed by Vanessa Voigt (641) and Anna Magnusson (505), followed by Karoline Knotten (490) and Marketa Davidova (470). Jeanne Richard (417), thanks to her fine end to 2024, is thirteenth, while Anamarija Lampic (392) and Janina Hettich-Walz (381) round off the top 15.
