At the start of the week, we learned from a press release from the Czech Federation that Marketa Davidova would not be coming to Le Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie) to compete in the third leg of the biathlon World Cup season.

The Czech had to undergo further tests on her back in the last few days. And the news is not very encouraging for the world number four. Local daily Idnes has revealed that the 27-year-old biathlete is suffering from a herniated disc.
Already undergoing treatment to try and reduce the swelling of her injury, Marketa Davidova should be able to set a date for her return to competition this Friday: “We’ll see how her body reacts. If the effects are positive, she could resume in mid-January ,” says Libor Vitek, the national team doctor.
