Biathlon: Hannah Auchentaller scored points this weekend
Although she was already assured of starting the winter on the biathlon World Cup before this selection weekend, Hannah Auchentaller nevertheless approached the competitions in Martell-Val Martello (Italy) with determination. A solid winner of the sprint on Saturday, the Italian once again impressed on Sunday.

With a second sprint on the programme, the race promised to be a thrilling one with the participation of the outgoing world number one, Lisa Vittozzi. However, Vittozzi didn’t really make her mark on the event. The biathlete from Sappada (Italy) was twice at fault on the mats and just missed out on the podium in fourth place.
In front of her, Hannah Auchentaller repeated her best performance. Already 10/10 against the targets the day before, the 23-year-old didn’t get a single bullet out again. As powerful as ever on skis, she then went on to secure her second win, 21 seconds ahead of her compatriot Beatrice Trabucchi, who also posted a faultless performance.

Already on the third step of the box on Saturday, Rebecca Passler was once again content with her position in the top 3. With just one fault on the firing point, she is just eight seconds ahead of Lisa Vittozzi in the standings.
Nicola Romanin stronger than Nicolo Betemps in the men’s race
A few minutes after the women’s competition, the men took to the track at the Grogg Biathlon Centre in Martell-Val Martello (Italy). And unlike the women, it wasn’t Christoph Pircher, winner of the first sprint, who came out on top.

Stronger than the rest of the pack, it was Nicola Romanin who raised his arms this time. Faulted just once behind the rifle, the transalpine made his mark on the boards to claim a fine victory. Ahead of the young Nicolo Betemps by just 10 seconds, the experienced 30-year-old biathlete scored points on this final day of competition.
Marco Barale, the only athlete to clear all his targets on Sunday, completed the podium.
