Biathlon: Marit Oeygard to replace Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold
At midday on Monday, theNorwegian Biathlon Association unveiled the list of athletes selected for the World Cup in Hochfilzen (Austria). While Johannes Thingnes Boe, Sturla Holm Lægreid, Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen, Tarjei Boe, Endre Stroemsheim and Vebjoern Soerum remain on the world circuit, Johannes Dale-Skjevdal has been relegated.
His place has been taken by Martin Uldal, who has performed very well in the IBU Cup over the last two weeks. At the age of 23, he will be making his World Cup debut. “Isak Frey was also considered, with his three victories, but the decisive factor in our choice was Martin Uldal’s stable performance, combined with the quality of some of his races,” explains Per Arne Botnan, head of Norwegian biathlon.

On the women’s side, Marit Oeygard benefited from Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold’s withdrawal. She competed in the IBU Cup last week for the first time in her career, where she impressed with a podium finish and two top 5 finishes. “It will be exciting to see how she performs in the World Cup,” says Per Arne Botnan. From the outset, the Norwegian Biathlon Association explained that it was Ida Lien who should have been on the world circuit. However, she had to withdraw after suffering a back injury.
Juni Arnekleiv, Emilie Kalkenberg, Gro Randby, Maren Kirkeeide and Karoline Knotten have been reappointed.
