Biathlon: training courses in addition to federal courses for Justine Braisaz-Bouchet
In a few days’ time, in Östersund (Sweden), Justine Braisaz-Bouchet will launch her 2025/2026 international season. Winner of the mass-start of the FFS selections in Bessans (Savoie) on Sunday, the 29-year-old from Beaufort – who has not yet decided on the precise date on which she will end her career – is preparing to begin the last Olympic winter of her career.
Justine Braisaz-Bouchet has prepared meticulously for this year. “ I’ve invested a lot in my preparation by doing two training courses,” she summed up last week during an online press briefing attended by Nordic Magazine .

It has to be said thatthe biathlete from Les Saisies (Savoie) has chosen to go on training courses between the various federal gatherings, travelling in particular to the Lavazè Pass (Italy), Bessans (Savoie) and Font-Romeu (Pyrénées-Orientales) by her own means.
I’ve spent over 60% of my time since May at altitude,” she explains. I’d never done it before.
“As a mother, I don’t have the same lifestyle as my colleagues”.
While she explains that the substance of her training has “remained the same because it works quite well” over the summer, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet also notes that individualisation has been the rule.
As a mother, I don’t have the same lifestyle as my colleagues,” says the 2022 Olympic mass-start champion. There’s nothing miraculous about it, but we thought about the preparation differently with my husband, Patrick Favre, Cyril Burdet and my mental coach. We tried to work as a team.

The summer preparations also provided Justine Braisaz-Bouchet with the opportunity to work hard on her mats.
“When I started shooting, I tried to simplify things as much as possible. We put things right in the spring,” she reveals. I’ve worked a lot on technique, but that’s not the only element in performance. I have high expectations of my shooting because I know what I’m capable of and I haven’t yet managed to find the consistency I want in competition.
