Biathlon: ten-man Poland in Östersund
After taking part in the opening Norwegian biathlon races in Geilo (Norway) last weekend, the Poles fought it out for places in the first stage of the World Cup, scheduled to start in Östersund (Sweden) on 29 November.
On Monday afternoon, the Polish FA unveiled its selection for the tournament. Not surprisingly, Natalia Sidorowicz leads the women’s team, with Anna Maka, Joanna Jakiela, Anna Nedza-Kubiniec and Kamila Zuk in her wake. Monika Hojnisz-Starega, making her return from maternity, will not be taking part.
In the men’s category, Jan Gunka, Konrad Badacz, Fabian Suchodolski, Marcin Zawol and Wojciech Skorusa have all been selected, with the exception of nugget Grzegorz Galica. Although he was one of the best Poles at Geilo, he will have to pass through the IBU Cup, a circuit he has never been to before, before moving up to the World Cup.
