Biathlon: after a podium finish in the cross-country skiing World Cup, the national biathlon mass-start title for Einar Hedegart
Einar Hedegart is a little genius of Norwegian Nordic skiing. A promising young biathlete, in 2023 he won the World Junior Championships before discovering the World Cup in Oslo-Holmenkollen (Norway), where he even scored a top 30 finish.
Einar Hedegart, who has been having more trouble with his rifle on his back, has performed some remarkable feats in cross-country skiing this season. Held back for a round of the World Cup at the start of the winter, he reached the podium in the individual skate race in Oslo-Holmenkollen a fortnight ago.
Returning to his first love this weekend at the national championships in Stiklestad (Norway), he scored a major coup by winning the mass start. With a score of 18/20 and impressive speed on his skis, he beat Johan-Olav Botn (19/20) after a great last lap to take the gold medal.
Isak Frey (18/20) was bronzed ahead of Kasper Kalkenberg (19/20) and world number one Sturla Holm Lægreid (17/20). The top 10 is completed by Ole Suhrke (17/20), Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen (16/20), Martin Nevland (19/20), Petter Austberg Bjoern (18/20) and Herman Dramdal Borge (20/20).
