10:31. This Saturday morning, the Norwegian Biathlon Cup 2024/2025 opened in Geilo (Norway) with a sprint. At a venue that will host the IBU Cup next week, Mats Oeverby was out for revenge. Not selected for the start of the B circuit after some average races in Sjusjøen (Norway), he was somewhat reassured. He scored 10/10 but is not yet fully fit on skis, although he had to share victory with Ole Suhrke (9/10).
After coming out of the standing 8.8 seconds behind his compatriot, the latter, who was an unlikely sixth in the individual skate race at the Norwegian cross-country skiing cup in Gålå (Norway) on Friday, put in a fiery last lap to finish in the same time. In third place, the podium was completed by Haavard Galaaen (9/10) at 12 sec 9.
Then, in the women’s race, it was Marthe Kraakstad Johansen (10/10) who won. Also disappointed by the selections at the start of the winter, she won by 20 sec 2 over Ragna Fodstad (10/10) and 24 sec 2 over Marit Oeygard (9/10).
