Biathlon: Gaëtan Paturel first Frenchman to compete in Geilo on Saturday
On Saturday, the opening Norwegian biathlon races in Geilo (Norway) kick off with sprints. As is customary in this competition, the best athletes will start at the end of the start list.
From 11.30am, it’s the women’s race with 101 starters. Slovakia’s Anastasiya Kuzmina will wear bib 54, Eve Bouvard 55, Maya Cloetens 76, Marit Ishol Skogan 78, Marit Oeygard 80, Emilie Kalkenberg 82, Karoline Erdal 84, Marthe Kraakstad Johansen 86, Natalia Sidorowicz on 88, Juni Arnekleiv on 90, Lotte Lie on 92, Ragnhild Femsteinevik on 94, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold on 96, Karoline Knotten on 98, Dorothea Wierer on 100 and Maren Kirkeeide on 102.

Then, at 2pm, the men’s competition gets underway with no fewer than 139 entries. Florent Claude will have the 87, while Gaëtan Paturel (101) will be the first Frenchman on the track. Next up are Oscar Lombardot (113), Antonin Guigonnat (117), Fabien Claude (123), Emilien Jacquelin (127), Quentin Fillon-Maillet (135) and Eric Perrot (137).
