Biathlon: Franziska Preuss still in yellow
The battle for the women’s Crystal Globe of the 2024/2025 Biathlon World Cup is tightening between Franziska Preuss and Lou Jeanmonnot. Separated by 92 points before the start of the races in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic) in favour of the German, then by 63 after the sprint, the gap is even closer following the pursuit.
In fourth place, the Doubiste rider made up further ground on her rival, who was thirteenth on the day. So, ahead of the stage scheduled in Pokljuka (Slovenia) next week,the German has a 36-length lead over Lou Jeanmonnot. With five races to go, everything still remains to be done and everything is still possible.
Winner on Saturday, Julia Simon (685) is third ahead of Jeanne Richard (590), Océane Michelon (588), Elvira Oeberg (571), Selina Grotian (563), Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (542), Suvi Minkkinen (541) and Maren Kirkeeide (445).
In the speciality rankings, Lou Jeanmonnot (348) retains the red bib ahead of the last pursuit of the season. Julia Simon (316) and Franziska Preuss (269) follow and can still prevent her from lifting the crystal in Oslo-Holmenkollen (Norway) in a fortnight’ time.
