Biathlon: Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, a heady victory
In the wake of Emilien Jacquelin ‘s victory in the men’s sprint at the Biathlon World Cup in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic), it was another of the circuit’s phoenixes who came out on top at the Vysocina Arena on Friday . It has to be said that Norway’s Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold has had a tough time of it over the last year.

Stripped of her yellow overall leader’s bib at the very end of last season by Italy’s Lisa Vittozzi, she was narrowly beaten in her quest for the big globe. She returned to the quest for the precious trophy at the start of the winter, but suffered from repeated heart rhythm problems. Forced to undergo surgery to resolve the problem once and for all, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold returned to competition in January.

Without shining, she went into the start of the World Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland) without a single top 10 finish. Still struggling in the canton of Grisons, particularly with the targets, the Norwegian rallied during the break, working hard. Back to her best at the beginning of March, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold marked her return to the forefront on Friday evening at the Nove Mesto sprint.
Lou Jeanmonnot comes within 63 points of Franziska Preuss
With a 10/10 and the second fastest ski time of the day, the Scandinavian was quite simply untouchable… at the point where her biathlon seemed to have broken down for her in February 2024 at the world championships.
With this performance, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, pink glitter on her cheeks, prevented the French hegemony from continuing in the Czech Republic. A year after the unthinkable quadruple in the sprint at the World Championships, Les Bleues were poised to repeat their performance (in part) by placing three girls on the podium.

Except that the Norwegian went on to win brilliantly. Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (9/10), who was making her debut as world champion in the format, took second place at 15 sec 1, while Julia Simon (10/10) was third at 20 sec 9 to give the French team a double podium finish.

A performance enhanced by Lou Jeanmonnot’s fourth place at 27 sec 1 (10/10). Taking advantage of Franziska Preuss ‘s fifteenth place (9/10), the Doubiste biathlete made a fine recovery in the overall standings to take 29 points off her rival. With six races to go this winter, 63 points now separate the two biathletes, still in the German’s favour.
Sophie Chauveau misses out on her World Cup comeback
Austria’s Lisa Theresa Hauser, back at the end of the season with 10/10, and Karoline Knotten, also with 10/10, complete the top 6 in the flower ceremony. Suvi Minkkinen (10/10), Milena Todorova (10/10), Dorothea Wierer (9/10) and Selina Grotian (9/10) all finished in the top ten of this very high-level sprint.

Finally, Jeanne Richard (10/10) was eleventh and kept her blue bib as the best U23, whileOcéane Michelon (8/10) was thirteenth and Sophie Chauveau (8/10) forty-third on her return to the World Cup.
