The battle for the big crystal globe of the men’s biathlon world cup 2024/2025 continues. Leading the standings up until now by 48 points over Johannes Thingnes Boe, Sturla Holm Lægreid actually finished fourteenth in the sprint in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic) on Thursday evening.
This result, combined with his illustrious compatriot’s third place, closed the gap. With six races remaining in the winter season, the gap between the two men is now 10 points, still in favour of Sturla Holm Lægreid (881).

In third place, Emilien Jacquelin (657) edged out Eric Perrot (640) by 17 lengths. Campbell Wright (313), seventeenth, is of course keeping his blue bib as best U23.
Elsewhere, in the sprint rankings, Johannes Thingnes Boe (342) takes the red bib and has a 17-unit margin over Emilien Jacquelin (325) and 36 over Sturla Holm Lægreid (306). The last race will take place in two weeks’ time in Oslo-Holmenkollen (Norway).
