Biathlon: the gap is closing between Franziska Preuss and Lou Jeanmonnot, now separated by 63 points
Prior to the Biathlon World Cup sprint in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic), Franziska Preuss was leading the overall standings by 92 points over Lou Jeanmonnot. This advantage of more than one victory was considerably reduced on Friday evening.
The German (905), who was fifteenth when the Doubs-based rider finished fourth, has effectively lost 29 points and has seen her rival (842) fall back to 63 points with six races to go before the end of the winter season. On Saturday, during the pursuit scheduled from 5.40pm, 27 seconds will separate the two girls. And everything could be turned upside down.

Julia Simon (595) took third place ahead of Sweden’s Elvira Oeberg (571), who was absent this week in the Czech Republic, Jeanne Richard (556), Océane Michelon (523), Selina Grotian (513), Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (501), Suvi Minkkinen (500) and Maren Kirkeeide (408).

Elsewhere, in the specific sprint rankings, Franziska Preuss retains her red bib ahead of the final sprint scheduled in a fortnight’ time in Oslo-Holmenkollen (Norway)… but Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (317) is just 7 points back.
