Biathlon: the double for Elvira Oeberg in Oberhof
For Elvira Oeberg, the Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof (Germany) ended on Sunday afternoon just as it began on Thursday: with victory. An impressive winner of the sprint at the start of the week, she repeated the feat in the pursuit.

If she managed to complete the double, it was because the Swede held her nerve in the shooting, where she can sometimes get lost in the big time. With a time of 19/20, she was never really troubled and won 16.6 seconds ahead of Finland’s Suvi Minkkinen (19/20). Minkkinen had entered the final round with Julia Simon (17/20), but the Beaufortaine native missed her first two shots.

The ten-time world champion still came third out of the penalty ring, but couldn’t resist the comeback of Sweden’s Hanna Oeberg (18/20), who climbed onto the podium with her little sister. Julia Simon ended her week in fourth place, marking her return to the very highest level.

Franziska Preuss (18/20) was fifth, followed by an incredible Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (18/20) in sixth place. Wearing bib n°31, she climbed dozens of places to enter the flower ceremony. Lou Jeanmonnot (16/20) was tenth, Océane Michelon (16/20) eleventh, Jeanne Richard (16/20) fourteenth and Camille Bened (17/20) twenty-fourth.
