Biathlon : Sturla Holm Lægreid, Tarjei Boe and Johannes Thingnes Boe set the record straight in Oberhof
On Friday, after Quentin Fillon-Maillet, Fabien Claude and Emilien Jacquelin completed a hat-trick of victories in the Biathlon World Cup sprint in Oberhof (Germany), TV2 commentator Marius Skjelbæk had no hesitation in announcing that ” France was leading the circuit”.

This Saturday, for the pursuit, the Norwegians seemed to have a certain feeling of revenge when they set off. The Scandinavians, who have racked up a hat-trick of victories in recent seasons, were quick to respond to the French clan. Sturla Holm Lægreid (18/20), Tarjei Boe (19/20) and Johannes Thingnes Boe (17/20) took the first three positions of the day.

It was a collective, hard-working performance that soon had Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, a legend in the discipline and a consultant for TV2 for several seasons, reacting: “I’m impressed by the Norwegian team today. I didn’t think we’d be able to do the hat-trick,” he admitted after the race.
Victorious for the first time this season at the end of a race that he mastered from start to finish, Sturla Holm Lægreid savoured his success, which he fought hard for under the threat of his two team-mates: “It just goes to show how quickly things change in biathlon. It’s unbelievably fun,” he enthused.

Back on the podium after a fine comeback, Johannes Thingnes Boe was reassuring after being struck down by a virus over Christmas: “I was so tired at the end that I didn’t have time to think and celebrate this Norwegian hat-trick,” he said.
