In 2019, Fredrik Linstroem put an end to his international biathlon career on the eve of his 30th birthday. During his active period, the man who won gold with Sweden in the men’s relay at the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang (South Korea) had already embarked on long medical studies.
And in recent weeks, the Scandinavian brilliantly obtained his coveted diploma. After several years on the faculty benches , the Swede was delighted to have achieved this milestone. “It’s a great achievement. It’s a long and in-depth course and they accelerated my pace when I stopped biathlon,” he tells SVT Sport. So it’s an important step to have achieved this diploma.

Now, the man who finished sixth in the overall World Cup standings in 2013 hopes to have the opportunity to work in sports medicine: “During my studies, I noticed that I learnt a lot from what I did before starting this career. You have a certain sensitivity to a lot of things. So it’s probably a unique body of knowledge that you’ve accumulated over the course of your sporting career. You shouldn’t underestimate it. Given my background, it would be great to work in sport,” he says.
