Johannes Thingnes Boe has come very close to another victory in the biathlon world cup sprint in Le Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie), and continues to extend his lead in the overall competition rankings. The Norwegian now has a 60-point lead over his nearest rival, compatriot Sturla Holm Lægreid.

Behind the two Scandinavians, Emilien Jacquelin maintained his third place with a margin of just 10 points over Sebastian Samuelsson. Eric Perrot slips down to fifth place following the Swede’s third place in the day’s race. Fabien Claude and Quentin Fillon-Maillet follow each other in ninth and tenth place, giving France four biathletes in the top 10.
In the overall sprint classification, Johannes Thingnes Boe also retained his red jersey ahead of Sebastian Samuelsson and Sturla Holm Lægreid. The first Frenchman is Emilien Jacquelin, fourth in this ranking.
