Biathlon: a men’s group of seven at the World Championships in Lenzerheide
Just when you thought the men’s squad for the biathlon world championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), scheduled from 12 to 23 February, was full, the French Ski Federation (FFS ) announced on Saturday evening that a seventh member had been added: Oscar Lombardot.
“We took this decision because Antonin Guigonnat is expecting a happy event with his partner Enora [Latuillière]. He’s officially the sixth person selected, but he doesn’t want to be there, staying at home waiting because he knows he won’t be racing, Stéphane Bouthiaux, director of the French biathlon teams, told Nordic Magazine. As there would only be five of us on site, we decided to call up Oscar [Lombardot] as seventh man and second reserve. He’s going home this weekend and will be on site in the middle of next week.”

In Lenzerheide, the hierarchy will be well established among the French: Emilien Jacquelin, Eric Perrot, Quentin Fillon-Maillet and Fabien Claude will be the first-choice starters, while Emilien Claude from the Vosges will be the first reserve and Oscar Lombardot the second.
