Biathlon: the last race of the winter for Sebastian Samuelsson
To round off the 2024/2025 biathlon World Cup season, a men’s mass-start was on the programme in Oslo-Holmenkollen (Norway). It was also a race synonymous with the end of the careers of the Norwegian brothers Tarjei and Johannes Thingnes Boe. The grouped start, without the challenge of the big globe already in Sturla Holm Lægreid‘s pocket, was a joyous celebration organised in their honour.
However, for this final match, the twenty-eight opponents of the Scandinavians had one desire: to beat them one last time. In this game, it was Sweden’s Sebastian Samuelsson (19/20) who came out on top. With a solid shot with just one error and fast ski times, the 2023 mass-start world champion ended the season with a fine solo victory.
Eric Perrot comes close to the small globe
In the final lap, he held off the comeback of Peiserot Eric Perrot (19/20). Having enjoyed the best winter of his career, the Peiserot thus confirmed his third place in the final overall classification and moved within 1 point of the small globe in the mass-start, won by Sturla Holm Lægreid (19/20), fourth on the day behind Endre Stroemsheim (20/20).
The flower ceremony was completed by Quentin Fillon-Maillet (17/20) and Slovenian veteran Jakov Fak (20/20). The latter also had the luxury of beating Johannes Thingnes Boe (16/20) in the sprint. The man with 91 World Cup victories thus ends his immense career in seventh place. Tarjei Boe (19/20) finished in twenty-third place.
Among the other French competitors, Fabien Claude (18/20) was sixteenth, Emilien Jacquelin (17/20) nineteenth, Antonin Guigonnat (17/20) twenty-eighth and Emilien Claude (16/20) twenty-ninth.
