Biathlon: Sturla Holm Lægreid’s raid
By finishing fourth in the mass-start of the biathlon World Cup finals in Oslo-Holmenkollen (Norway) on Sunday, Norway’s Sturla Holm Lægreid won the small crystal globe for the first time in his career.
With a total of 315 points, he beat Frenchman Eric Perrot (314)… by a single point. The trophy therefore hung by a thread, but it enabled Sturla Holm Lægreid to lift a fourth trophy this winter, following on from the overall trophy and the individual and pursuit trophies.
Finally, this is the seventh year in a row that Norway has won the mass-start globe: Johannes Thingnes Boe won in 2019 and 2020, Tarjei Boe in 2021, Sivert Guttorm Bakken in 2022, Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen in 2023 and Johannes Thingnes Boe again in 2024.
