Biathlon: a world title for Les Bleues in Östersund
On Wednesday morning, to round off their junior biathlon world championships in Östersund (Sweden), France’s Célia Henaff, Voldiya Galmace-Paulin, Anaëlle Bondoux and Amandine Mengin had one objective for the relay: to win the gold medal.
“We’ve got an incredible team and, frankly, I think we can go there with a lot of ambition. We’ve got four very strong players, so all four of us are really looking forward to this relay. We’re going to have to do some really good things to get out in front, but we’re more than capable of it,” the Grenobloise native told Nordic Magazine two days ago.

During the race, Les Bleues showed that they were indeed the boss. Although Célia Henaff had a scare at the start with 3 spikes on the downhill, the rest was a long, quiet river for the French team. La Beaufortaine handed over to Voldiya Galmace-Paulin with just a few seconds to spare.
The sixth world title for the women’s relay
The Montblanc native, currently leader of the IBU Cup, put on a bit of a festival on the skis and missed just one target. This allowed France to gain a foothold in the rankings and Anaëlle Bondoux took off with a lead of no less than 49 sec 2. Although the end of the race was a little less immaculate for Les Bleues, with 3 picks used by the Dauphinoise and then 6 more by Amandine Mengin from the Vosges, the main thing was safe thanks to the many mistakes made by the other competitors: France’s lead continued to grow.

In the end, it was with a lead of over a minute that the Bressaude crossed the finish line to hand France the world junior title in the women’s relay. Célia Henaff, Voldiya Galmace-Paulin, Anaëlle Bondoux and Amandine Mengin become the sixth French women to win the world title, following gold medals in 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Germany(Charlotte Gallbronner, Lea Zimmermann, Alma Siegismund, Lotta De Buhr), with 2 rounds and 13 picks, took silver, while Norway(Ann Kristin Aaland, Siri Skar, Guro Ytterhus, Silje Berg-Knutsen), despite 3 rounds and 12 picks, were bronze medalists.
