Biathlon: a fortieth day in yellow for Dorothea Wierer
1,832 days later, Italian biathlete Dorothea Wierer will be back in the yellow bib of overall leader this Friday at the World Cup sprint in Östersund (Sweden).
Three days after her success in the opening individual race – her seventh in the format – the Transalpine diva with two crystal globes will be the centre of attention and scrutinised from all sides. What’s more, at the age of 35, she has just embarked on the final season of her immense career.
In fact, this will be the fortieth time she has worn the yellow bib since discovering the World Cup. This makes Dorothea Wierer the third biathlete to have worn the legendary jersey the most times, behind Germany’s Kati Wilhelm (45) and Swedish legend Magdalena Forsberg (118).
