Biathlon: best IBU Cup result for Gaëtan Paturel
This Wednesday morning, the final stage of the IBU Biathlon Cup kicked off in Otepää (Estonia) with the men’s individual short. In this 15km race, Norway’s Sivert Guttorm Bakken came out on top.
Despite two shooting errors, one on each of his passages in the standing shot, the 26-year-old biathlete, who set the second fastest time on cross-country skis, won by 21 sec 0 over Germany’s Roman Rees (19/20) and 1 min 35 sec 9 over Lucas Fratzscher (19/20). Fratzscher secured the podium by 1 sec 3 over Johan-Olav Botn (16/20), who was too badly off target to beat him.

Gaëtan Paturel from Montblanc was the next to win, just 2 min 32 sec 2 behind. At 17/20, the Haute-Savoie Nordic Team biathlete’s fifth place was his best ever IBU Cup result. Norway’s Sverre Dahlen Aspenes (17/20) rounded off the top 6 finishers at today’s flower ceremony.
