French Alps 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Games: Benjamin Daviet and Anaïs Bescond on the Athletes’ Commission
Late on Monday, the Organising Committee for the 2030 French Alps Olympic and Paralympic Games announced the launch of its Athletes’ Commission.
It is made up of twenty-two athletes from Olympic and Paralympic disciplines. “It represents the diversity of sports and territories, [and] marks an important stage in the structuring of the COJOP. It reflects the Committee’s vision: to prepare and deliver the 2030 French Alps Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games with the athletes at the heart of the project. The Commission will therefore be a key forum for dialogue, a source of ideas and a committed partner in the design and delivery of the Games”.

The Athletes’ Commission, which will shortly elect its two co-chairmen, one man and one woman, is responsible for :
- Gather athletes’ needs, expectations and priorities and pass them on to the French Alps 2030 organising committee
- Participating in the development of the project on aspects relating to the athletes’ experience and conditions conducive to performance: Olympic and Paralympic villages, celebrations, opening and closing ceremonies, etc.
- Serve as a link between athletes, regions, young people and the Olympic and Paralympic Games
- Maintain close links with national and international athletes’ bodies: CNOSF and CPSF athletes’ commissions, federal, national and international commissions and IOC and IPC athletes’ commissions.
- help promote the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games
The members include two athletes from Nordic disciplines, former biathlete Anaïs Bescond and para-cross-country skier and biathlete Benjamin Daviet. The former became Daviet’s shooting coach three years ago.
Anaïs Bescond’s reaction
“I’ve always loved sport. When I was a little girl, I didn’t walk, I ran! I was thrilled to watch, then to compete in competitions (in different sports and at different levels). During my career, taking part in the Olympic Games was a dream come true. Today, I want and even need to make that dream last. 2030 will be the next stage, and I want to be part of it! My voice as a former athlete COUNTS. I know that when you’re active it’s not always easy to get involved. That’s why I’m delighted to be joining the Athletes’ Commission for the French Alps 2030 Olympic Games today.
Benjamin Daviet’s reaction
“I’m delighted to be part of this Athletes’ Commission, and I’d like to say a special thank you to the athletes who voted for me; I’m honoured by their confidence! I’m keen to put my background to good use in the project. My love for my sport, my region and my experience of the Winter Paralympic Games, as well as the Summer Paralympic Games and in particular those of Paris 2024, will be assets. For 2030, I want the winter athletes to experience the same fervour and feel proud. These Games must be unforgettable for the general public, but above all for the athletes!”
