Biathlon: start of the World Cup in Pokljuka this Thursday with the individual short races
This Thursday, the eighth and penultimate stage of the 2024/2025 Biathlon World Cup kicks off in Pokljuka (Slovenia) with short individual races. At 11.30am, the women’s race kicks off with the start of Finland’s Sonja Leinamo, bib 1.
The first starters include Ida Lien (4), Eve Bouvard (8), Baiba Bendika (9), Hannah Auchentaller (11), Anna-Karin Heikdenberg (12), Aita Gasparin (13) and Sophia Schneider (14).
Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold (16) will then open the blue group. Tereza Vobornikova on 18, Hanna Oeberg on 20, Sophie Chauveau on 21, Sara Andersson on 22, Anamarija Lampic on 24, Deedra Irwin on 25, Lena Haecki-Gross on 26, Paulina Batovska Fialkova, on 27, Milena Todorova, on 30, Julia Tannheimer, on 32, Anna Magnusson, on 36, Amy Baserga, on 38, Maya Cloetens, on 40, or Yuliia Dzhima, on 42, will follow.

The red group of favourites will start with Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (44), followed by Karoline Knotten (46), the blue bib Jeanne Richard (48), Océane Michelon (50), Selina Grotian (52), the red bib Lou Jeanmonnot (54) and Natalia Sidorowicz (55), Suvi Minkkinen (56), Valentina Dimitrova (57), Lisa Theresa Hauser, with the 58, Maren Kirkeeide (60), Ragnhild Femsteinevik (61), Julia Simon (62), the yellow bib Franziska Preuss (64), Dorothea Wierer (66), Ella Halvarsson (68) and Johanna Puff (69) in the gate.
In the last bibs, watch out for Martina Trabucchi (70), Olena Horodna (71), Lena Repinc (72), Marlene Fichtner (75), Linda Zingerle (78), Oleksandra Merkushyna (82), Marthe Kraakstad Johansen (85) and Shawna Pendry (102).
Oscar Lombardot first Frenchman in the running
A few hours later, from 3.15pm, the men will compete in their individual short. Germany’s David Zobel (1) will get things underway, followed by Patrick Braunhofer (4), Viktor Brandt (9), Joscha Burkhalter (10), Tero Seppälä (11), Oscar Lombardot (12), Michal Krcmar (13) and Thierry Langer (15).
Ukrainian Dmytro Pidruchnyi (16) will be the first biathlete in the blue group. Martin Ponsiluoma (18), Simon Eder (19), Johannes Kuehn (20), Emilien Claude (22), Jesper Nelin (24), Johannes Dale-Skjevdal (25), Vitalii Mandzyn (26), Justus Strelow (28), Maxime Germain (29), blue bib Campbell Wright (30), Danilo Riethmueller (32) and Otto Invenius (33) will be in his wake.

In the red group, then, Philipp Nawrath (34), the yellow bib Johannes Thingnes Boe (36), Jakov Fak (38), Sebastian Stalder (39), Emilien Jacquelin (40), the red bib Endre Stroemsheim (42), Tommaso Giacomel (44), Sturla Holm Lægreid (46), Sebastian Samuelsson (48), Niklas Hartweg (50), Quentin Fillon-Maillet (52), Fabien Claude (54), Eric Perrot (56) and Tarjei Boe (58).
The end of the race was marked by the departures of Florent Claude (61), Isak Frey (63), Paul Schommer (66), Arnaud Du Pasquier (68), Felix Leitner (72), Elia Zeni (75) and César Beauvais (93).
