Milan/Cortina 2026 Olympics: seven candidates to lead the French delegation
This Tuesday morning, the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF ) unveiled the (long-awaited) list of candidates to become flag-bearers for the French delegation at the opening ceremony of the Milan/Cortina 2026 Olympic Games.
In total, seven people applied : snowboarders Julia Pereira and Chloé Trespeuch, skaters Kevin Aymoz, Adam Siao Him Fa and Guillaume Cizeron , and alpine skiers Clément Noël and Victor Muffat-Jeandet.
The biathletes Quentin Fillon-Maillet, who had suggested he might be a candidate if the flag-bearer position did not interfere with his sporting programme, and Justine Braisaz-Bouchet are absent from the selection. They were, however, ideal candidates, as was Alexis Pinturault, who is also absent.
From 27 to 29 January, the French delegation selected for the 2026 Olympic Games will be called upon to vote on the two flag-bearers, one man and one woman. The result will be announced on 30 January.
Finally, for the Paralympic Games, the flag bearers will have the opportunity to march in the closing ceremony. The candidates are Cécile Hernandez (para snowboard), the only female in the running and guaranteed to be chosen, as well as Lou Braz-Dagand (para alpine skiing), Maxime Montaggioni (para snowboard) and Jordan Broisin (para alpine skiing).
