Biathlon | Rollerski: the MFNF in Annecy is over
A few days ago, our colleagues at Ski Chrono revealed, to everyone’s astonishment, that the town of Annecy (Haute-Savoie) had decided to withdraw its support for the Martin Fourcade Nordic Festival. This was the fifth edition of the summer Nordic skiing event organised by France’s greatest ever champion.
On Saturday, the organisers confirmed the news on their social networks, particularly Instagram. In a long message, they explained their“goodbye” to Annecy.
“We are saddened to learn that the town council no longer wishes to be associated with these values [sport, sharing and accessibility], but we believe in them more than ever, so we’ll keep your smiles with us and know that we’ll be meeting up again”, it reads, while the festival may soon find refuge in another town.
Numerous expressions of support
This message has been shared many times, with the MFNF receiving expressions of support from Fabien Claude, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, Simon Fourcade, Louis Schwartz, Marie-Laure Brunet, Lucas Chanavat, James Clugnet, Sverre Dahlen Aspenes and Arnaud Chautemps.

From the mixed zone in Kontiolahti (Finland), where he starts the new World Cup season this weekend, Emilien Jacquelin also had something to say: “We’re all saddened by this news, he told La Chaîne L’Equipe. We’ve all shared some good times. It was an event that helped develop biathlon, so thank you to all the teams.”
