On Monday evening, Villarreal biathlete Lola Gilbert-Jeanselme, 21, announced on Instagram that she had decided to end her career as a top-level sportswoman. She revealed her decision in a video recounting some of the highlights of her biathlon career.
In 2022, Lola Gilbert-Jeanselme qualified for the European Youth Olympic Festival in Vuokatti (Finland), finishing fifteenth in the individual event and nineteenth in the sprint.
She never returned to the international arena after that experience, and was subsequently struck down by myocarditis and a knee injury. Prior to that, in 2019/2020, the native of the Haut-Alpes region had dominated the U17 season, taking the overall victory.
Last winter, she began the season on the national circuit in the hunt for a place in the IBU Cup or Junior Cup…before calling a premature halt to competitions due to a lack of results.
