At the age of 42, Finland’s Kaisa Mäkäräinen, who has decided to end her career in March 2020, continues to impress. Crowned Finnish biathlon relay champion on Friday in Kontiolahti (Finland), she did it again this Saturday… in the sprint!
With the country’s best current biathletes in attendance, the former queen of the world circuit clocked up a 10/10 to take a sensational gold medal , 43 sec 7 ahead of Sonja Leinamo (8/10) and 1 min 16 sec 9 ahead of Suvi Minkkinen (8/10).
Olli Hiidensalo (9/10) won the men’s race ahead of Heikki Laitinen (8/10) and Tero Seppälä (7/10).
