Biathlon: Martin Ponsiluoma and Hanna Oeberg set the Stockholm Olympic Stadium alight… but lose out in the end
After the qualifying heats and individual mass-starts, Skidskyttekampen offered its main event on Monday evening: the final of the mixed singles relay. Reserved for the eight best teams in the qualifying heats, it pitted some of the biggest names in biathlon against each other.
Initially, it was the home team of Hanna Oeberg and Martin Ponsiluoma who took the lead with one stint to go. But Finland’s Suvi Minkkinen and Tero Seppälä were watching closely.

In the final for the boys, Seppälä, who was more precise in his shooting, got the better of Ponsiluoma to take first place after the last passage over the mats. However, urged on by his fans, the Swede gave his all in the final lap to catch up… but failed by 1 second. It was thus Finland who took victory in this Skidskyttekampen 2025.

Norway’s Juni Arnekleiv and Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen, the defending champions, this time had to be content with third place, while Johanna Skottheim/Sebastian Samuelsson were fourth. After a difficult start, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet and Emilien Jacquelin were fifth. Lena Haecki-Gross and Niklas Hartweg finished sixth.

At the bottom of the class were Norway’s Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold and Johannes Thingnes Boe, and France’s Océane Michelon and Eric Perrot, eighth and last in this final.
