Biathlon: second victory in a row for Maren Kirkeeide at the Norwegian championships
The big favourite at the Norwegian biathlon championships in Stiklestad (Norway) after the combined withdrawals of Karoline Knotten, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold and Ida Lien, Maren Kirkeeide more than held her own.
On Friday, she had already won the gold medal in the sprint following an exceptional final lap. This time, Maren Kirkeeide didn’t need any of that and won the mass-start solo. A cut above the rest on the cross-country track and 19/20 in the shooting, she won 24 sec 1 ahead of Marthe Kraakstad Johansen (19/20) and 43 sec 4 ahead of Juni Arnekleiv (19/20).
Lotte Lie (19/20), Marit Oeygard (19/20), Karoline Erdal (17/20), Synne Owren (16/20), Anne Bunemann De Besche (19/20), Marit Ishol Skogan (17/20) and Linnea Winsvold (20/20) finished in the top 10.
