Biathlon: Eric Perrot made his mark in the individual event at the World Championships
Eric Perrot had said so. He was coming to Lenzerheide (Switzerland) with his sights set on gold. Bronze medallist a few days earlier in the pursuit, the Frenchman reached a milestone on Wednesday in theindividual event of the biathlon world championships held in the canton of Grisons.

With a very solid 19/20 on the shooting range in a race where many favourites fell by the wayside , such as Johannes Thingnes Boe (15/20 and twentieth at the finish), the Peiserot managed to come out on top. As one of the best shooters on the circuit, the young man simply confirmed that he is now well established among the elite in his sport.
Stratospheric on his skis, setting the fastest time of the day, the 23-year-old biathlete had his doubts for a while against Tommaso Giacomel, who was also in contention for gold. However, the Italian, who was also in good form on the boards, was never in a position to trouble the Frenchman in his final round, failing once on the mats in his final shot.
It was a performance that made him the fifth Blue to win the individual world title, and one that also caused a stir in our local press. On the Norwegian side, local journalists were quick to point out the Savoyard’s dual nationality: “Frenchman Eric Perrot, whose mother is Norwegian, made a big impression by winning the gold medal”, wrote TV2.

In Sweden, Eric Perrot particularly impressed the experts with his effort management: “What a race he’s had”, even exclaimed Ola Bränholm, consultant for SVT Sport. ” I’ve got good skis, I pull well and I’m in good shape, so everything seems so easy,” the Frenchman told our radio station.

Happy to see a Transalpine on the podium of an individual at the Worlds for the first time in thirty-two years, the Italians from Fondo Italia praised the speed and power of the biathlete from Peisey-Vallandry (Savoie). ” Frenchman Eric Perrot’s performance on skis was far superior, as he quite simply set the fastest time on the track,” they noted.
