Biathlon: a fine victory for Fany Bertrand at La Féclaz
In Saturday’s sprint, the Summer Tour biathlon in La Féclaz (Savoie) was the scene of a major sensation when Germany’s Mareike Braun managed to get the better of Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, the overwhelming favourite in the race.
The gaps, however, were not very large and suggested a good chase. Hopes were not in vain, however, as the race on the Alexis Boeuf stadium on Sunday afternoon was magnificent. It was Fany Bertrand (17/20), who started in fifth place, who came through to the finish as the winner.

Solid throughout the race, the biathlete from Méribel (Savoie) won the last standing 5/5 to give herself a huge boost just a few weeks away from the important selections for the start of the IBU Cup season. In the final loop, she managed to resist the comeback of Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (15/20), once again second.

Mareike Braun (16/20) took third place, while Sophie Chauveau (14/20), Célia Henaff (17/20) and Camille Coupé (16/20) rounded off the day’s top six ahead of Louise Roguet (18/20), seventh overall and first U21. In doing so, she secured the national summer biathlon title for her category.

Charlotte Gallbronner (16/20), Amandine Mengin (18/20) and Camille Bened (16/20) rounded off the top 10, while Lisa Siberchicot (17/20) was twelfth, Maëla Correia (18/20) fourteenth and second U21, Lou-Anne Dupont Ballet-Baz (15/20), fifteenth and third U21, Lola Bugeaud (15/20) sixteenth, Coralie Perrin (16/20) nineteenth, Coralie Langel (15/20) twenty-first and Namou Candau-Armand (14/20) twenty-third.
