On Friday evening, Swiss-Ski Night was held in Zurich’s Halle 622, the traditional end-of-season event honouring the best Swiss athletes in Alpine and Nordic skiing. And while the title of male athlete went to the impressive Marco Odermatt, a young Swiss biathlete also stood out.

James Pacal was crowned rookie of the year in the Nordic category, having scored a superb 20/20 in the individual event at the world junior biathlon championships in Östersund (Sweden) last winter. Following in the footsteps of his compatriots Benjamin Weger and Sebastian Stalder, he became the third Swiss-Ski biathlete to win a world medal at this level.
