Biathlon : Tero Seppälä injured in the weight room over the summer
Leader of the Finnish national biathlon team for several seasons now, Tero Seppälä has had an up-and-down summer. The 28-year-old biathlete injured his hand while doing a session in the weight room during a training camp.
“I did a pull test with extra weights. It pulled on my hand too much and I felt pain,” he told Yle. It delayed my training, particularly in the arms. The focus was specifically on increasing upper body strength, so there was a break in that area. I had to put more effort into it than planned in the autumn.
An injury that has nonetheless allowed the Finn to work on other aspects that he had never really focused on. Now “90%” healed, Tero Seppälä is training on his own from Olos (Finland): “My return to the national team went well. I like travelling to Olos around November. I’ll be back in Kontiolahti before the World Cup,” he explains.
So it’s with ambition that the native of Järvenpää (Finland) looks ahead to the winter of 2024/2025: “I hope to be able to come back and fight for good positions,” he says. Last spring, the last few weeks of the season went well. I need to be in good shape to be able to surprise on the good days.
