Biathlon: back on the podium for Eric Perrot
Eric Perrot returned to the podium for the first time in 2026 during the Biathlon World Cup pursuit in Ruhpolding (Germany) on Sunday afternoon. Eighth, sixth and then fifth in the races contested since the start of January, he finished second this time, only to be beaten in the final by the strong Norwegian Johannes Dale-Skjevdal.
I put in a lot of work throughout the race and, unfortunately, the last lap was complicated,” admitted the Peiserot, who came out of the final firing point alone, to the microphone of La Chaîne L’Equipe. I knew it was going to be tough. I told myself that if I smoothed out the effort, anything was possible and I gave it my all. But he was a bit stronger and I tightened up quickly.

Despite coming second, Eric Perrot – who missed two targets in the first prone shot – is delighted to have “unlocked” his podium counter.
The best is yet to come,” he says. My form continues to improve. I can see that I’m really enjoying myself during the races. I’m concentrating on the Games, but there are also races next week that interest me for the overall classification. I’m sticking to my guideline, which is to build up my strength through the World Cup races while staying placed in the general standings.
It has to be said that, unlike his Norwegian rivals and most of the Swedes, Eric Perrot will be taking part from Thursday in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic).
“I don’t see them as energy-consuming races, but as very good training sessions. I need these races to keep improving. This will enable me to arrive in top form in February”, he promises.
